The Type of People I Coach

People hire a coach; any type of coach, to help them get better at something.  In my world, people hire me because they want to get better at life – both generally and specifically.

It goes something like this:

  1. Client starts here – a certain place in their life that they want to improve
  2. Client wants to get here – a specific place that is, by design, above what they believe they are capable of
  3. Client needs to go through here – ‘the process’ that sucks while you’re going through it but actually ends up being what you appreciate when you get to #2

I help my clients become clear on #1 and #2 and then aggressively push them through #3.  We work as a team but all the hard work is on the part of the client.  If our sessions don’t include uncomfortable, sometimes confrontational conversations – we typically aren’t talking about the right stuff.

In life, I don’t beat around the bush and I don’t hide what I have to say.  I take that same approach in my coaching and it doesn’t work for everyone.  Forward action and accountability is critical in the coaching I do, however we don’t move anywhere until we know where we are going and why.

There’s people that talk and there’s people that do – I work with people that do.  I coach the people who want to be an entrepreneur or increase their sales by 50% but also care about fulfillment and balance in other areas of their lives.  I coach people who enjoy, and see the value in getting outside their comfort zone in all areas of their lives.  Regardless of what you end game is, if you don’t have ambition, drive and the willingness to grow, we won’t be a good match.

What probably separates my programs from other coaches is the fact that I put a lot, I mean a lot, of emphasis on accountability.  If you tell me you’re going to do something at the end of the session – then do it.  While I don’t expect the people I coach to be perfect, I do expect them to realize that they will never reach #2 above unless they struggle through #3.

Above all, I coach good people who want the most out of life.  Although I provide a lot of tough love throughout our engagement, at the end of it all love is really all there is.
